Since the founding of the Sorbonne University, 800 years ago, France offers a wide range of courses covering all scientific fields such as arts, theology, business, legal and health sectors. The French higher education system offers both short and long term programs. The first program leads to a degree license (after an average of three years of study), while the student is able to continue at DEA or DESS level (with duration of one to two years). Then, after acquiring postgraduate DEA, the third level academic courses leads to a doctorate degree.
