Welcome to Academic Summer in Germany in a majestic castle in the town of Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia. AS helps you achieve your academic goals in a dynamic, friendly and supportive environment. This program is excellent if you are considering studying in Germany or if you want to stay in the EU this summer on an academic program. For those students who are interested in studying at German universities, there will be opportunities during the course to find out more about this.

ACCOMMODATION
The school offers a variety of comfortable and spacious bedrooms with shared bathrooms in the historical castle. Most bedrooms accommodate two students, there are some bedrooms for three or four students. Girls and boys are accommodated on different floors.
Explorers (12-14): You will study a full curriculum that includes language and literature, mathematics, sciences, social studies, and arts. You can choose Explorers course in German or English
Engagers (15-17): You can choose from the following subjects in English:
Applied mathematics, Art, Economics, Business & entrepreneurship, English & Essay writing, Presentation & interviews, Science. Social studies, Theory of knowledge (ToK), World literature
You can choose from the following subjects in German:
German linguistics (study of language, essay writing & presentations), STEM, Landeskunde-includes German cultural & social studies, history & economics
CPD accredited leadership course-lecture style learning and group activities designed to develop lifelong leadership skills.
Chose from athletics (fitness, running, relay, jumping), games (football, basketball, floor hockey), food technology (culinary skill, baking and cooking), arts and crafts (tie-dye, ceramics, art room), drama (dance, theatre, screen play, singing), outdoors education (campfire building, orienteering, geocaching) and English workshop.
Schloss Heesen is located on the river Lippe and has it’s very own island so together we can try a variety of watersports including kayaking, canoeing and lake water skiing.
EXCURSIONS
One full day and one half day excursions will enable you to see the beautiful country that is Germany – you will visit places such as Bonn, Hamm, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Bonn, Duisburg, and Munster.
