ISSOS was created with one clear mission in mind: To create a safe place for people to learn and grow.  As such, we provide a well- balanced, supervised summer program where students from all over the world come together and choose academic and elective classes to suit their needs and interests.  We offer our students the opportunity to have the summer adventure of a lifetime where the focus is on personal safety and wellbeing, quality individual instruction and a unique international experience.

 Accommodation 

ISSOS at St Andrews is based in the extensive and beautiful grounds of The University of St Andrews, Scotland’s top university. Students will be housed in the stunning halls of residence, in a block exclusive to ISSOS, which provides a comfortable and safe home

ISSOS at Cambridge is based in the extensive and beautiful grounds of The University of Cambridge, one of the UK’s most prestigious universities. Students will be housed in one of the historic colleges, in an area exclusive to ISSOS, which will provide a comfortable and safe home for the duration of the three-week summer school programme in England.

ISSOS at Yale lets our summer school students experience life at one of the USA’s top Ivy League universities. Yale is a beautiful campus, famed for its gothic architecture, and the small university town offers plenty of opportunities to shop, explore the area around the campus and enjoy the variety of cafes and restaurants.

Programs

ISSOS’s academic summer school programs are designed to cater specifically for the needs of international students. Classes meet daily for three hours and, all students choose one academic program and one elective option to follow for the three-week summer school program.

  • St Andrews academics: English Language/Study Skills /IB Extended Essay/Debate/Youth Leadership/Creative Writing
  • St Andrews electives: Art/Film/Golf/Theatre/Tennis

 

  • Cambridge academics: English Language/Study Skills/Debate/Journalism/Business  and Entrepreneurship
  • Cambridge electives: Outdoor Leadership/Tennis/Photography/Theatre
Leisure

Every evening students take part in a full summer school evening program. These are designed to cater to everyone and range from sporting activities to creative pursuits and include: Dodgeball, Ultimate Frisbee, Urban Orienteering, Mini Olympics, Variety Show, Guest Speakers Debate, Scottish country Dancing, Movie Night, Disco and many more. 

Evening Programs: Group night, Guest Speakers Debate, Scottish Country Dancing, Home Work Night, Counselor Fashion Show, Variety Show, Choice Night, Clan Calling, Dodgeball, Ultimate Frisbee, Mini Olympics, Urban Orienteering, Danish Longball, Creative Night, ISSOS Awards, Final Night Debate, The Dance

Excursions

Students who attend ISSOS, St Andrews, will have the opportunity to explore Scotland by getting to know the history and rich culture that exists in St Andrews and in close by cities and towns. On Saturdays students will go on a full day trip to two of Scotland most exciting cities: Glasgow, Edinburgh. On Wednesdays students are in academic classes until 12 noon and then go on a half day trip. There are four Wednesday trips for students to choose from, students will be able to go on two of the four trips over the three weeks and they can choose from the following: Glamis Castle, The Scottish Deer Centre, Scone Palace, Blown Away,

 Students who attend ISSOS, Cambridge will have the opportunity to explore England, getting to know the history and rich culture of Cambridge and the surrounding cities and towns. On Saturdays students will go on full day trips to specifically selected towns nearby; Windsor and Oxford. On Wednesdays students are in academic classes until 12 noon and then go on a half day trip. There are four Wednesday trips for students to choose from. Students will be able to go on two of the four trips over the three weeks and they can choose from the following:

Ely Cathedral and Town, The Imperial War Museum in Duxford, The Raptor Center 

Location

ISSOS offers 13- to 18-year-old from all over the world the chance to combine academic courses, fun and cultural enrichment in the world class universities of St Andrews and Cambridge.
