A Swiss IB World School purpose-built in 2015 to meet the needs of international boarding students from around the world offers an international academic program to children aged 3 to 18, leading to IGCSEs and the IB. Synonymous with challenges, expeditions and trips designed to help the young discover sports, arts, and the outdoors, and to deepen cultural understanding. Le Régent, the most modern and recent of Swiss international boarding schools, is now under the guidance of Le Rosey.

Accommodation

Boy and girl boarders live on separate floors, looked after and provided for by resident houseparents (Directors of Boarding). Small numbers and the special care given to the children’s welfare, together with a real family atmosphere, ensure a harmonious and happy life.Each student shares a very comfortable room with en-suite shower.

The Secondary School has two boarding houses, one for the girls and one for the boys; they are looked after by resident Houseparents (Directors of Boarding). Each room accommodates up to two students.

Evening and weekend activities include sports, cultural outings, horse riding, ice skating, film nights, board games, and forays in the surrounding mountains with specialists making sure all students have a full and diversified educational experience

BILINGUAL INFANT SCHOOL

Bilingual Infant School and its Early Years Programme (ages 3-6) offers a unique opportunity to develop fluency in both English and French. A varied and exciting programme in a warm and caring environment allows each child to develop to their full potential. Days are filled with games and songs alongside time for learning the basis for reading, writing and maths skills.

 

JUNIOR SCHOOL

The Junior School provides personalized and academically rigorous learning. A broad and blended program selects from the best international curricula and forms the essential learning habits that inspire and develop curiosity, enthusiasm, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking, independence and real-world engagement – and all with a multi-cultural outlook and the right balance of academic and extra-curricular activities.

(I)GCSE

The Pearson Edexcel IGCSEs are the world’s most popular international qualification for 14- 16-year-olds, with over 800,000 subject entries in over 150 countries and in more than 4800 schools around the world each year.

During Class 8, the key priority is to lay excellent foundations, with a broad range of subjects that can be taken on to IGCSE. An academic tutor oversees the academic progress of each individual student and teaches PSHE and Study Skills.

In classes 9 and 10 students work towards final exams, usually in 9 or 10 subjects. (Each department chooses the best course – GCSE or IGCSE in their subject). All are examined through a mixture of coursework (in a small number of subjects) and written exams usually

The IB Diploma

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a perfect match for Le Régent. Its mission is to “develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect”. The IB is a holistic educational program recognized by all major universities. At its heart is the IB Learner Profile which asks students to be inquirers, knowledgeable, open-minded thinkers and communicators, who are also caring, principled, balanced and reflective risk-takers. The Core of the IB Diploma aims to broaden students’ educational experience, challenging them to apply their knowledge and skills. In Theory of Knowledge (ToK), students reflect on the nature of knowledge, and in their Extended Essay (EE), they complete a 4,000-word independent, self-directed piece of research. Finally, Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) involves a diverse range of activities and an individual CAS project

Le Régent is situated in Crans-Montana, Valais – about 20 minutes from the town of Sierre. The International School is located in one of the sunniest and safest areas of the Swiss Alps, at an altitude of 1,500 meters, where the air is pure, the panoramic views glorious, and the people warm and welcoming
