Bath Academy has expanded its popular Junior Summer School to include a fully residential campus in the beautiful countryside. Set in the beautiful Dorset Valley (1.5 hours from
Bath), Milton Abbey is a historical boarding school which provides a perfect, safe and
secure environment for young students to study English and experience another side of English life away from the city. Nearby, the busy towns of Blandford and Dorchester are beautiful places to visit, while the coastal towns of Poole, Weymouth, and Bournemouth offer even more activities for excursions.

Accommodation

The students have residential accommodation in the boarding houses of high standard, located only a short walk from the classrooms and all available facilities on campus. The rooms are single, twin and dormitories. Each house is equipped with a kitchen and common room to relax. Full board accommodation with a varied choice of three hot, healthy and nutritious meals per day served in the 15th century dining hall

Programs

The Junior Summer School Programme is taught in small classes so students are able to progress quicker and learn better. When this is possible, students are taken outside of the classroom for fully immersive learning. A varied range of lessons and plenty of conversational practice are based on students’ interests aiming to:

Leisure

Students have plenty of choice for afternoon activities. The Milton Abbey campus offers everything from art and theater workshops, nature walks in the area, and many kinds of sport options: Art workshop, Swimming, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Golf. Evening entertainment includes quiz night, talent show, mini- Olympics, film night, sunset by the seaside, boarding house disco, BBQ, nature walk, treasure hunt

Excursions

There is one full-day and at least one half-day excursion each week.

Half-day excursions are closer to campus. Full-day excursions take students to places such as London, Bath, Weymouth or Durdle Door

Location

Milton Abbey is located in Dorset, approximately 1.5 hours from Bath and 3 hours from London.
The nearest train stations include Dorchester and Gillingham and trains from these stations travel direct to London Waterloo, where connections are available to Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Airports in the Southwest include Bournemouth, Southampton, Bristol and Exeter
